These shorter pad bolts are exclusively made of stainless steel by RB for correcting Tesla S Plaid OE/Brembo caliper pad bolt mis-alignment (Replacing only IB bolts - 2 per caliper), or for Porsche CCB to iron conversion or vice versa where the caliper offset can change 1-2mm due to rotor thickness so to restore an even gap between rotor face and pad bolts.
These shorter pad bolts can also allow you to run 4mm thicker (heavier duty) rotors; such as for Porsche Boxster or 911 (All 4 bolts should be replaced), from original 28mm to 32mm (Replacing both IB and OB) - 4 per caliper.
Carefully check the clearance between two bolts after replacement to verify that:
- The clearance is at least 3mm (1.5mm per side) more than the rotor thickness.
- The clearance is "symmetrical" to the caliper center body.
These shorter bolts are verified that can keep the pad in place even if the pad lining (friction material) is worn down to the minimal thickness w/o any concern.
Replacement Instructions:
1. 10x11.5 point socket requried: Make sure the socket has a deep neck or narrow total diameter 19.8mm max, for Tesla Plaid Brembo calipers' 19.9mm bore.
Recommended:
2. Loosen and remove the 10 point screws (2x) - On Inborad Sides where brake lines are attached to where you can see the screws are set in deeper that the Outboard.
3. Punch out the original pad bolt with a bolt & hammer.
3. Replace with RB shorter bolts.
4. Engage the 10 pt screw from the other end.
5. Torque with a 10 pt socket to draw the new shorter bolt until seated to the caliper housing.
Before correction:
After correction - Clearance is increased, and both IB/OB bolts are now symmetrical (centered evenly to the caliper center body).
