2 components vs. 4 in a conventional surface-mount rotor
|
RB Center-Mount
1 hat + 1 ring, mounts on either side
|
Conventional Surface-Mount
2 hats + 2 rings, side-specific
|
|
Open air inlets, both sides
Air circulates freely on inboard and outboard faces at once, instead of relying on a directional hat design.
|
Balanced stress load
Load transfers evenly from ring to hat, since mounting flanges sit on both friction surfaces.
|
Fits either side
One ring design works for left and right — no side-specific parts to stock or mismatch.
|
Design
Mounting flanges are on both friction surfaces, which balances heat transfer from the disc to the hat and increases flange length and airflow around the flanges for excellent heat balance.
Hardware
Full floating design using 10.9-grade alloyed hardware. Hardware is DACRO-coated for corrosion resistance and to allow smooth movement between hat and ring as the disc expands and contracts with heat. Fasteners are a self-locking two-piece design — no springs, no glue, no clips — with crimp-locking that provides positive engagement without rattling or torque loss at temperature.
Why this beats a directional-hat two-piece design
Other two-piece rotor designs try to open a gap between hat and disc to admit outboard air, but still rely on 4 total components (2 hats, 2 discs) per pair and a side-specific fit. RB's center-mount design achieves wider, heat-balanced air inlets on both sides with a single interchangeable ring and hat pair.
