Why OE boots fail on track
OE dust boots are made of EPDM, which performs fine for typical street use, but under the sustained high heat of track driving the material tends to crack, sometimes within a single track day on hard-driven cars.

Why silicone solves it
RB's high-temperature blue silicone boots are rated to roughly 450°F, well above the ~300°F rating of standard EPDM, so they hold up through repeated heat cycles instead of hardening and cracking.

Choosing the right boot
Standard black boots are appropriate for street-driven cars. High-temp blue silicone boots are recommended for cars that see regular track time or sustained hard braking, where OE-style boots are most likely to fail.
